YouTube loses key content exec

Tools

YouTube’s Jordan Hoffner, has resigned his post as head of content partnerships--which he’s held since 2006--to join start-up IAC/InterActiveCorp., Ben Silverman’s new content company that also enlisted senior digital executive Drew Buckley, reports PaidContent.

Hoffner who joined YouTube just after it was bought by Google, previously was an NBCU VP. His departure comes at a tough time for Googles’ YouTube, which is trying to break into the premium content market. After a stellar live stream of U2’s concert from the Rose Bowl last month, the first streaming of a full-length concert by the video hub, the company seemed to be moving toward better relationships with content providers.  YouTube reportedly is in talks with some major studios, including Lionsgate, Sony and Warner Bros., to allow it to stream movies on the website.
