VUDU now available on LG HDTVs
VUDU, an OTT video provider, announced its service is now available on LG broadband-enabled HDTVs. The service, which streams HD programming directly to the television without additional hardware, is available on LG models LH50 LCD and PS80 plasma HDTVs.
"LG is proud to lead the charge on delivering high-quality streaming movies for the high-def family-room experience," Peter Reiner, senior vice president of marketing for LG Electronics USA, said in a release. "VUDU offers content in 1080p resolution with Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 surround sound, enabling the ultimate streaming movie experience on premium LG HDTV models."
The VUDU programming will be accessible through LG's "NetCast Entertainment Access" window, and current LG broadband-connected HDTV customers will get an automatic software update with the new capability. VUDU offers pay-per-view and buy options for its content library, and the company said this is the first time the service has been available without the need to purchase additional hardware.
