In-stream video ad provider ScanScout gets $5.1M
ScanScout, an online video advertising company based in Boston, announced it has drawn down $5.1 million of an $8.1 million funding round Monday. The company's previous investors include General Catalyst Partners, Time Warner and First Round Capital.
ScanSout places online video ads in-stream, matching the displayed ad to demographic information about the user. ScanScout was founded in 2005 by CEO Waikit Lau and Steven Lee, who were classmates at MIT.
All the major broadcast networks, several car manufacturers and brands like Pepsi and Heineken are listed as featured advertisers and publishers on ScanScout's homepage. It also partnered last year with Akamai to deliver and optimize in-stream advertising.
