Zorap, a start-up that came out of stealth mode today at the DEMOfall 09 conference, is offering a social video chat client with incorporated media sharing. The Zorap platform lets users create a video chat event, invite friends and share audio or visual media with the other participants in the room.

The company, which is privately funded and based in Maine, thinks it can stand out from the rest of the social viewing and sharing crowd by offering superior technology and innovate and unobtrusive ad delivery mechanisms. Zorap is partnered with YouTube, allowing those videos to play in the room, which is a nice added feature, but it's not clear how ad revenue would be divvied up.

The company's real test will be to see if its "context-related" ad delivery engine can match appropriate offers with user actions.
