SpotMixer expands Google partnership

Tools

SpotMixer, a company offering self-service online video ad creation, announced an integration with Google that will integrate the video ad platform with Google AdWords' In-Stream Video Ads. AdWords users now can leverage the SpotMixer platform to create pre-roll, mid-roll or post-roll video ads to run with online videos across Google's Content Network, including YouTube.

SpotMixer currently is integrated with Google's TV Ads program, a partnership that SpotMixer CEO John Love said played a significant role in the In-stream Video Ads deal.

"Google approached us about the deal, as the video ads team works closely with the TV ads group and knew we were attracting new customers to that platform," Love said in an interview. "Implementation (of a SpotMixer ad) for online video is just like for the TV Ads program. Existing AdWords users can put the content of their text ad into a video setting that is relevant to their industry, and then preview the video."

Love said that by reducing the barrier of creation with the self-service option, many users will be willing to try video advertising that had not before. He said it is a testament to SpotMixer's core competency with video ad creation that Google did not leverage internal technology for this effort.
