Sorenson Media names Peter Csathy CEO
Sorenson Media, a video encoding and compression company based in Salt Lake City, Utah, announced that digital media industry veteran Peter Csathy has been named CEO and president of the company. Csathy comes to Sorenson after a stint as CEO of video communications company SightSpeed, which was acquired by Logitech in 2008.
"I am excited about joining Sorenson because it has such a strong foundation in place with its passionate employees and great growth prospects," said Csathy. "I want to raise the visibility of the company as we expand into other areas of the online video space, while maintaining its position as a market leader in online video encoding and compression."
Csathy said his biggest challenge as he takes the reins at Sorenson is identifying and acting on the right opportunities in the space. He also hinted at a major product announcement outside of Sorenson's traditional market sector, but declined to comment on specifics at this time.
