Qumu launches new employee video collaboration suite
Qumu, a streaming media company, on Tuesday announced Kodiak, a suite of enterprise video applications for collaboration and communication in large organizations. Kodiak provides video capture and steaming capabilities for employees to create, manage and distribute video communications either behind the company's firewall, or externally to customers.
Scott Safe, vice president of product strategy for Qumu, said Kodiak's capture and distribution features support a variety of video file formats and are compatible with a range of internal CDNs, allowing for easy integration into a company's existing infrastructure. "Customers continue to choose Qumu over competitors due to our track record of delivering secure, scalable video solutions that are easy to learn and use," Safe said. "The Kodiak offering allows for employees to connect and share ideas very easily through video, whether it's for training, collaboration or conferencing."
The Kodiak platform can be purchased as software, an appliance, or a hosted, managed or SaaS solution, depending on the needs of the customer. Kodiak's video sharing and capture abilities also can be controlled through workflows by the administrator, making the system flexible to the company's security and privacy protocols. Safe stressed the benefits of "employee-generated content" for cooperation, idea sharing, and emotional connection to the enterprise, and company literature describes Qumu Kodiak as "The YouTube of enterprise video."
