Nielsen: More than 10 billion online video views in May
U.S. online video lovers continued to increase their consumption of online video content in May, as total streams crossed the 10 billion mark, according to the latest Nielsen Online VideoCensus data. Total unique online video viewers climbed 12 percent since 2008 to 133.7 million, and the average viewer took in more than three hours of online video content in May.
Every online video viewing metric category gained for the month and year-over-year, according to the Nielsen figures, even as other studies claim online video viewing statistics are wildly overstated. Hulu and Nielsen also had a bit of a squabble around video view reporting last month, showing how contentious the argument over an accuratly measuring an audience has gotten lately.
