Microsoft Silverlight re-signed for NBC 2010 Olympics coverage

Tools

Microsoft and NBC Universal (NBCU) have announced they're teaming back up for the 2010 Vancouver Games.  The win for Microsoft's Silverlight platform comes on the heels of Major League baseball dumping it for Adobe Flash, but CBS is happy to Silverlight to streaming HD video.

"NBCOlympics.com on MSN" will be the same drill as the Beijing Olympics, including live and on-demand event coverage in both standard and HD formats, packaged clips and interviews, stats and athlete bios. Olympics content will also be syndicated across the MSN Network, including on MSN.com and MSN Video.

paidContent.org implied that the deal is not solely on technology, since Microsoft is spending ad money with both NBC and CBS - cold comfort for Adobe, but also a reminder that sometimes marketing dollars speak louder than tech wonks.
