LG Electronics may be first in line for the next release of Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) TV software, according to a report from Bloomberg. The move would allow the company to build a set compatible with the software as it begins to gain momentum for a third iteration of its TV service, reportedly planned for release by the end of the year.

Google TV was demoed on an LG set at the Consumer Electronics Show this week. Samsung already has been announced as a partner in the Google TV ecosystem.

Sony and Logitech in 2010 partnered with Google to launch an early iteration of Google TV that failed--miserably-- to gain traction with consumers. In fact, Google reportedly asked Samsung, Toshiba and Vizio, all of which were rumored to have been building TVs based on the software, to abort their rollout at CES 2011.

Google 2.0 was released in October, open to Android developers and with a new interface.
