Jivox adds click-to-action features, engagement score
Jivox, an online video advertising company focused on small and medium-sized businesses, announced the launch of its Jivox 4.0 platform, which contains many useful tools to help monitor and monetize online video assets. The features include click-to-action interactivity, and a "Video Engagement Score" system to compare and optimize the performance of online video ads.
The click-to-action feature pauses the online video once a user mouses over the ad icon in the video. It then brings up a menu with several different options for the user, including getting more information about the advertiser in an email or text message, downloading a coupon or special offer, emailing the video to a friend, and embedding the video on another web site.
Jim Gustke, vice president of marketing for Jivox, said these contact methods were less disruptive than links to outside sites, because the user stays on the page with the video, and can resume watching instantly after interaction.
Gustke said the Video Engagement Score would help advertisers see how their ads were performing relative to other advertisers on the Jivox network. The score is an algorithm that weights and averages all interaction metrics for a video, including click-through-rate, completion rate and rates of action on all of the click-to-action items released with the Jivox 4.0 platform. Gustke said the vision for the Video Engagement Score is to eventually show advertisers how their ads are performing against all the ads in their industry on the network.
