Internet TV company AnySource raises $3.2M
AnySource Media, makers of the Internet TV platform Internet Video Navigator, announced the closing of $3.2 million in funding. The funding comes from NextStage Capital, Murex Investments, and individual cable TV and video on demand investors.
AnySource said it will use the capital to bring its platform to commercialization by working with several television manufacturers to embed its software directly in HDTV chipsets.
"This round of funding is a major milestone for the company and perfect timing to support the initial consumer product rollout projected for the second half of 2009," said Mike Harris, CEO and co-founder of AnySource Media, in a statement. "The ability to tap into the collective resources and market expertise from both investment firms as well as the individual investors will be extremely valuable for our aggressive growth plan."
AnySource's platform allows consumers to navigate online videos either passively or actively. Users can select specific sites and videos through the browser, or sit back and watch an automated feed like a traditional broadcast model.
Companies inventing ways to bring online video content directly to the TV should continue to draw down funding even in the turbulent economy, as content owners, advertisers, and OEMs alike are beginning to recognize the inevitability of the migration of online video content to the living room.
