Hulu to reveal its 'secret' during Super Bowl

Hulu sent an email out to users today urging them to watch the company's Super Bowl ad, which will "reveal the secret behind Hulu." How's that for intrigue?

The NBC Universal and News Corp. joint venture has been successful for a couple of significant, but hardly secret, reasons. First, the company is a joint venture between the aforementioned conglomerates, which gives Hulu exclusive access to the popular programming Fox and NBC own. Secondly, the Hulu team has obsessed over the interface and user experience to the point where they nitpick over each and every pixel on the screen. That sort of commitment almost always pays off with user loyalty. Hulu has also found an unobtrusive way to package advertising with its content, so it can generate solid revenue without alienating its user base. And finally, Hulu has forged many savvy partnerships and deals with other online video aggregators to give the site the maximum reach possible.

We'll see if the Super Bowl announcement is tongue-in-cheek, simply a retread of one the examples above, or something truly outlandish or unexpected enough to surprise industry watchers.
