Hulu has reportedly pulled its content from partner/competitor TV.com, a CBS-owned online video site. Hulu, a joint venture between NBC and News Corp., always seemed like an odd bedfellow with TV.com, as their corporate parents are competitors.

While partnerships with other video sites have proven fruitful for growing audiences, Hulu may have eventually seen more harm than gain for letting people get its exclusive content elsewhere.

Nielsen VideoCensus figures reported by tvweek.com show that TV.com streamed 13 times more videos and unique visitors increased 263 percent in January, after a site re-launch. The tremendous growth could have made the Hulu leadership nervous, resulting in the termination of the partnership. TechCrunch points out that the "video unavailable" message users get when trying to watch Hulu content on TV.com may be the result of a glitch. But TechCrunch also said the downtime was greater than expected for a bug, and Hulu may have indeed pulled the content.

Both Hulu and TV.com representatives have yet to comment on the matter.
