Blinkx revenue up 113% for fiscal 2008
Online video search engine blinkx reported encouraging fiscal year results, as its revenue more than doubled and its loss from operations was cut nearly in half compared with the previous fiscal year. For blinkx's fiscal year ended March 31, 2009, the company reported an operational loss of $10.5 million on $13.9 million in revenue, compared with an operational loss of $18.3 million on $6.5 million in revenue for the previous fiscal year.
The company also saw strong growth in page views and unique visitors, as 88 million unique visitors viewed 835 million pages in March 2009, compared with the 56 million uniques and 584 million page views blinkx had in March 2008.
CEO Suranga Chandratillake said he was pleased with the revenue and viewership growth and said CPMs remain high due to the company's ad targeting technology. He said the company thinks 2009 has potential to be a breakout year for advertisers moving ad spend to online video.
