Amazon's LOVEFiLM inks international TV distribution deal with NBCU
The deals keep coming. Online streaming video player LOVEFiLM has cut a deal with NBCUniversal International TV Distribution which gives British TV viewers access to a wide swath of U.S. programming including "The Office," "30 Rock" and older programs such as "Heroes," and even older than that, "Knight Rider."
"This deal with NBCUniversal strengthens our exceptional and unrivalled on-demand TV offer," said Jim Buckle, managing director at LOVEFiLM, in a corporate news release. "Our content, unbeatable value for money and the instant nature of our service make us the first choice for people who want the best possible entertainment experience."
LOVEFiLM previously announced TV deals with ABC, BBC and ITV as part of its LOVEFiLM Instant service, which is the international version of Amazon Prime Instant Video in the United States.
NBCU, after years of slumping in the U.S. ratings, is making something of a comeback lately. Belinda Menendez, president of NBCUniversal International TV Distribution and Universal Networks International, used the press release to extol the programming that will be available via LOVEFiLM.
"LOVEFiLM customers will now have access to the classic NBCU series they know and love, as well as the opportunity to discover our other high-caliber programming," she said.
