Akamai, The FeedRoom get pieces of $37M gov. contract

Tools

OMNITEC Solutions, a Bethesda, Md.-based tech services firm, announced it has won a four-year, $37 million contract with the Defense Media Activity, and it's using several solutions from online video industry companies to fulfill it. The contract, which calls for software development and new media integration for Department of Defense public-facing websites, will use Akamai CDN services, The FeedRoom's streaming video services, and Apple video products.

The DoD aims to consolidate thousands of web properties in one single architecture to lower costs and improve coordination. OMINTEC did not say how much of the contract would be budgeted for the online video portion of the upgrades, but it's safe to say, with the size of the contract, that this represents a nice piece of recurring business for them.
