The current times have not been kind to original [1] online [2] video [3] production companies, but two movie executives are not fazed by the failures of others. David Salzber and Christian Tureaud are launching DCN Studios, which will produce original online video series and live streamed events targeted at college students, with an initial "mid-five figure investment." The two will serve as co-presidents of DCN Studios.
DCN Studios plans to avoid the pitfalls that have sunk other similar companies through its distribution deal with Digital College Network, an entertainment company that reaches about 3.5 million college students by delivering programming to close to 250 campus bookstores and doing on-campus events. DCN Studios will leverage this network to bring the original online video content to the target audience, and the co-presidents said that Digital College Network has a history of commanding sizable advertising commitments from sponsors to drive revenue.
